Sherwood forest Brass, a community brass band founded in 2000, by band president Stan Lippeatt as Thoresby Colliery Youth Band. Now known as Sherwood Forest Brass we are a independent organisation providing free musical opportunities in the Nottinghamshire Area for anyone wishing to play or learn to play within a banding environment.

The band has a strong heritage with connections to the local coal mining communities and now located in the historical village of Clipstone, which once stood the largest WW1 camps in England. The band continues to keep brass alive in Sherwood where many military and colliery brass bands once played...

The Main Band is a fourth section registered competing Brass Band who performed all over the Nottinghamshire area.

Our training band "The Acorns" formed back in 2008 to allow more musical opportunities for new starters and beginners to learn and play together with the same skill level.

The SFB committee formed in 2004 by a group of members parents has been the life and soul of the band. Currently the committee is made of a mix of playing members and supporting parents who strive to keep the band operating.
