Business Pathways and Course Descriptions

Computers Pathway

(suggested but not required order)


Entry Level

Computer Applications

In this class students will earn how to use both the Google Suite and Microsoft Office Applications on a computer including Google Docs, Sheets and Slides and Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Essential mastering computer skills for both school and the workforce. At the completion of the class students have the opportunity to become Microsoft Office Certified.


Level 2

(can be taken any year, no prerequisites)

Web Design

Students here will explore basic concepts used in graphic design with Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign. Students will apply design principles to create original graphics and will become proficient in visual communication and personal expression.




Level 3

Students here will explore basic concepts used in graphic design with Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign. Students will apply design principles to create original graphics and will become proficient in visual communication and personal expression.

Advanced Comp Apps

Take your Computer skills to the next level by Mastering the Google Suite and Microsoft Office. All students will test for Microsoft Office Certification.

Master your Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign skills by completing a creative portfolio.



Level 4

*11th or 12th grade only

Work Experience/Internship *Need Counselor approval

Students receive school credit for working a job in the community. Additionally students learn the Job Search Process- Networking, Job Application, Resume, Cover Letter and Interview Skills. Students build a Career Portfolio and learn Life Skills for after High School.

Entrepreneurship- *Complete 2 Business classes to enroll

Students develop, test, create, and pitch a business of their own to Loveland community members and potential investors. Students will learn about marketing, financial analysis, and the legal environment of running a business. Students work with community mentors and coaches in and out of classroom.


Additional Pathway Classes

Career Development and Exploration

Students create an employment portfolio for the workforce and/or college. Students learn how to market themselves to employers, receive information about financial aid and how to apply for scholarships. Students gain employability skills (resumes, interviewing, and professional appearance) and skills for personal success (professional behavior and attitude).

Intro to Business and Marketing

In this class students get the opportunity to work on and explore all the business related content. Students will explore Business Economics, Compete in a Stock Market Simulation and Create their own Food Truck Marketing Plan.




Level 2

Sports and Entertainment Marketing

Arguably our most popular class- Students here will explore the awesome world of Sports Marketing and Entertainment marketing. Students will complete a Sports Marketing Simulation where they manage their own sports Franchise and plan all marketing including Sponsorships, Ticket Prices and Sports Promotions.


Level 3

Social Media and Advertising

A VERY popular class. Go beyond being a Social Media Consumer and Learn to be a Social Media Creator. Students examine the world of Social Media and how it is utilized for Marketing and Promotion purposes. Students complete and online simulation running a company and all of it's social media. Learn all about Instagram, Twitter and Facebook advertising Metrics and how to optimize social media trends for the world of business.


Marketing Research

Our most advanced Marketing Class. Students in this class will learn advanced Marketing concepts through real world business Case Studies. Students will also research and create their own Marketing Campaign for a Business of their choice. This class heavily emphasizes real world skills and skill development.

Students in this class will earn all about how finances work in the real world. Students will learn the basics of budgeting and buying, saving and borrowing money, the intricacies of home ownership, income tax and investments, and how to build good credit. Students also will play a stock market simulation game and a personal finance simulation.


Level 3

Business Law

Students cover the foundations of the legal system as it applies to business and personal issues. Students learn the basic elements of crime and tort law, contracts, ethics and the law, cyber law, property law, and employment law. Students participate in several case studies and mock trials. Perfect for students who want to pursue careers in Law, Government or Business.


Management

Students learn the principles of management and how to be a manager. Students study the primary functions of planning, organizing, directing, and controlling with a balance between the behavioral, quantitative, and operational approaches. Students complete a management simulation.

Students learn the basic elements and concepts of accounting with emphasis on the bookkeeping procedures used for maintaining journals, ledgers, and other related records. Student prepare accounting reports for sole proprietorships, partnerships, and corporations.
