We’re calling an in-person rally because the times require it. We are absolutely tired of existing in a community where Black & Brown lives are subject to homicide at the hands of police. Homicides that result from non-criminal traffic stops, non-violent crimes, etc. In order to get rid of police brutality we must get rid of police culture’s influence on our communities. In order to get rid of police culture, we need a new humanitarian department created BY THE COMMUNITY.. FOR the Community. Keep these deadly cops out of our neighborhoods.
Muhammad Muhaymin, Anthony Cano, Dion Johnson, Antonio Arce, James Garcia are just a few lives that were lost because of unnecessary police presence.
All over insultingly ridiculous subjects cops had no business engaging in.
We need a department like @nocap.phx to addresses this issue. A dept tasked in dispatches from wellness checks to non-violent crimes, with emphasis on subjects like mental health, substance abuse, and caring for Unsheltered citizens.
See you downtown this Thursday. We protested for the majority of 2020. Without moving towards actual systemic change it will have been in vain.
ALSO: Since we are on the subject of the right to assembly, State of Arizona is one motion away from passing #HB2309, which would unconstitutionally threaten gatherings like this with mandatory felonies, for starters.
