Welcome to the SEND Department
At Streetly, we prioritise the needs of all students, understanding that some have barriers to their learning. We believe that every child is an individual and has the right to have their needs met in order for them to reach their full potential. The inclusion and equality of all learners is at the centre of our ethos at Streetly and we recognise the value of every individual student.
We are a place of trust and we aim to ensure that every student that we work with at Streetly receives a balanced, fair, individual and personalised learning experience. As your SENDCo, and with my team of dedicated staff, I would like to assure you that the personal needs and achievement of each and every individual is our absolute priority.
We are a large department which includes: the SENDCo, Assistant to the SENDCo, an Administrator and a dedicated team of highly skilled and professional Teaching Assistants and HLTAs. All team members are extremely competent in delivering a range of tailored interventions and support. Within the department the TA’s are responsible for specific learning needs inline with the 4 areas of need, regularly assessing the progress of their specific cohorts of students and reporting regularly to the SENDCo where progress is and is not being made which enables quick responses to close any gaps.
Any child who is of concern is flagged promptly to ensure timely and personalised support is provided with the graduated response of Assess, Plan, Do, Review being at the core of what we do, ensuring that no child is left behind.
So I’d like to formally welcome you and wish you a smooth induction into our nurturing ‘family’ here at The Streetly Academy.
