Recital Handbook 2025
Youth & Teams - Randolph Theatre
Drop Off Etiquette:
Please bring your dancer to the venue in costume with their hair and makeup done. (Or in their first costume, with additional costumes and accessories organized and labelled in a bag, if they are performing in more than one routine.) See the performance schedules here.
There will be an in costume run through before the performance which the dancers will be allowed to watch when they are not performing their routines.
Pack a healthy snack for your dancer and send them with a reusable water bottle. (Keep in mind that dancers will be in costume, so apples, bananas, granola bars etc are better than anything that might spill or stain like yogurt, powdered crackers or chips, chocolate etc). There are students with severe nut allergies scheduled for both performances, so please do not bring anything with nut ingredients.
Please label your child's belongings, in particular their dance shoes, costume, and accessories as many other dancers will have similar or identical items.
Please do not drop your dancer off with anything valuable, especially electronic devices. Mobile phones and cameras are not to be taken into the changing area. We are not responsible for any lost or stolen items.
Parents and audience members are not permitted to stay at the venue between the drop off time and the time that the theatre doors open for the performance. Please make a note of your drop off time and show time so that you are prepared to leave and return later.
Showtime Etiquette
Seating at the venue is open (no designated or reserved seating). Doors will open a half hour before the performance. The theatre is spacious and offers good views from both the ground level and the balcony.
The venue is considered a historical landmark and so the balcony railings are lower than is required by modern standards. We ask that those with concerns or anyone accompanying small children, to please seat themselves on the ground floor.
There is ample seating available for both shows and we do not anticipate selling out either performance. However, we do recommend that you purchase your tickets in advance so that we can be sure of this as the event approaches.
If you require accessibility accommodations, please let us know in advance so we can make sure you're taken care of.
There will be concessions available before and after the show. (Food, beverages, gifts etc) A portion of the sale of any alcohol goes to the Randolph registered charity that supports the upkeep of the theatre.
Dancers are not permitted to leave the venue while the Recital is running.
Before and after they perform, dancers stay in the waiting rooms and are closely supervised by staff and instructors. Quiet toys and games are provided.
Only The Pointe Dance Centre staff are permitted in the dressing rooms during the Recital as these are the designated changing rooms as well as the waiting area for the performers.
Flash photography is strictly prohibited as it can be dangerous and distracting to performers.
A professional videographer will be recording each routine so please sit back and enjoy the show. (There is no extra charge for the recording of the performance and it is distributed to families during the summer once the editing process is completed. This typically takes 6-8 weeks.)
Explicit language, inappropriate attire, offensive clothing and criminal behaviour will not be tolerated.
Vaping and smoking are not permitted at the venue and a fine may be charged by the venue for violations.
If your child has any medical conditions that may require attention whilst in our care or are carrying any medication with them, please notify our Staff when you sign in.
Pick Up Etiquette
After the finale, dancers will go backstage and collect their belongings. Dancers will be released to their parents from the stage one class at a time. Parents are asked to remain in the theatre to collect their children. Family and friends are encouraged to exit the theatre at that time.
Exception: Dance Teams and Youth dancers with more than one costume. These dancers will need more time to gather their belongings. Parents are asked to exit the theatre and pick their dancers up from the stage door after the finale. Please keep in mind that it will likely take 20-30 minutes before they are ready to exit depending on their age, number of costumes etc.
Thank you for reading through our Recital etiquette! We can't wait to see these young dancers shine on stage!
Early Years - The Pointe Dance Centre
(Tiny Dancers, First Steps, Future Stars)
Please bring your dancer in their class uniform with their hair and makeup done. This goes for both the Dress Rehearsal and the Recital.
We recommend arriving no more than 5 minutes early. The schedule allows for the arrival of the audience and accommodations necessary for getting little ones ready to perform.
Tiny Dancers (performing with the caregiver) sit with their caregiver in the audience.
First Steps and Future Stars dancers are dropped off in the Front Studio to prepare with their instructor.
Dancers are loaned a tutu or performance vest to wear over their uniform and these items are collected by the instructors after the show.
Seating is open on the day of the performance (no designated or reserved seating).
After they perform, little dancers are allowed to sit at the front of the stage or with their parents to watch the rest of the performances, if any.
Flash photography is strictly prohibited as it can be dangerous and distracting to performers.
We will be recording each routine so please sit back and enjoy the show. (There is no extra charge for the recording of the performance and it is distributed to families during the summer once the editing process is completed. This typically takes 6-8 weeks.)
Explicit language, inappropriate attire, offensive clothing and criminal behaviour will not be tolerated.
Vaping and smoking are not permitted.
