Emerald Canoes

General Information

We're open!

With the reopening of Yoho National Park for day-use on June 1st, we've been able to open up the gift shop and canoe rentals to the public. We've had to make some changes to the operation in order to comply with Public Health guidelines, some of which include:

  • requesting that customers self-screen for symptoms (see below).

  • Masks are now mandatory to enter gift shop & to pay/sign/lineup for canoes. If you don't have one, we have them to purchase for $2

  • limited customers in the shop at one time.

  • hand sanitizer usage required before entering shop.

  • disinfecting all paddles, high-touch surfaces on canoes, and PFDs after each use.

  • Plexiglass barriers at the till.

  • regular disinfecting of high-touch surfaces in the shop.

  • You cannot purchase the National Park Pass anywhere at Emerald Lake. Please come prepared by purchasing it at the entrance to the park from the East (Canmore) or the West ( 1/2 way between Field & Golden). You can also purchase it at the information Center on the highway in the town of Field.

As per Worksafe-BC guidelines, the following persons may NOT enter our place of business at this time:

  • Anyone who has had symptoms of COVID-19 in the last 10 days. Symptoms include fever, chills, new or worsening cough, shortness of breath, sore throat, and new muscle aches or headache.

  • Anyone directed by Public Health to self-isolate.

  • Anyone who has arrived from outside of Canada or who has had contact with a confirmed COVID-19 case must self-isolate for 14 days and monitor for symptoms.

Thank you in advance for your understanding and co-operation!

Our canoe-rental season at Emerald Lake runs from approximately the end of May until Thanksgiving weekend in October. The exact opening dates are dependent on the melting of the winter's ice from the lake. If you're planning a trip near the beginning of our season, feel free to email us at mike@theboathousetradingco.com for more details.

Hours of operation:

OUR LAST DAY OF THE SEASON IS SUNDAY, OCTOBER 11TH. WE CLOSE AT 4PM THAT DAY. THE LAST CANOE LEAVES THE DOCK AT 2:45 FOR ONE HOUR.

THANK YOU FOR AN AWESOME SEASON! ☺️
