Effective Sept 26th, the Trans Canada highway will be closed between Field & Golden. This will affect our operating hours !

Please note we are on Mountain Standard Time ! (same time as Banff, Lake Louise, Calgary etc...)


FALL HOURS:

Canoes:

  • The canoe rentals are open 7 days a week.

  • 8am - 2:45pm ( last canoe goes out at 2:45pm for one hour, no exceptions! )

  • For the final weekend, our hours are:
    Saturday, Oct. 8:
    10am = 4: 45pm, Sunday, Oct. 9th: 10am - 2: 45pm


Shop:

  • Mondays, Thursdays & Fridays: 9am - 5pm

  • Tuesdays & Wednesdays: closed until further notice

  • Saturdays & Sundays: 8am - 4pm

  • For the final weekend, our hours are:
    Saturday, Oct. 8:
    10am = 6pm, Sunday, Oct. 9th: 10am - 4pm

Our final day of operation for both the shop and the canoe rentals will be Sunday, October 9th.

GENERAL INFORMATION:


If you're planning on visiting us this summer, here are some things you need to remember!


  • Canoe Rentals are $90/hr per canoe. (We allow up to 3 adults in a canoe)

  • We do not take reservations for the canoes. They are on a first come first serve basis. please have your entire party ready to go BEFORE getting in line. We will give priority to those who are fully ready to go.

  • We allow a single dog with a maximum weight of 23kg/50lbs in our canoes, and we reserve the right to make a final decision on site depending on the temperament of the dog. 2 adults and ONE dog max per canoe !

  • There must be at least one person per canoe of at least 19 years of age.

  • You cannot purchase the National Park Pass anywhere at Emerald Lake. Please come prepared by purchasing it at the entrance to the park from the East (Canmore) or the West ( 1/2 way between Field & Golden)m or at the information Center on the highway in the town of Field.

  • wonderfully, there is no cell reception at the lake.

COVID INFO:

  • We request that customers self-screen for symptoms (see below).

  • hand sanitizer use reccomended before entering shop.

  • All paddles disinfected after each use.

  • We do regular disinfecting of high-touch surfaces in the shop.

Frequently Asked Questions:


Q: What is the rate for renting a canoe?

A: The rates are $90/hr per canoe during the early season. Tthis includes PFD's (Personal Flotation Devices) which must be worn by everyone.

Q: How many people can fit in a canoe?

A: 3 Adults maximum, or 2 adults and 2 small children (both children less than 60lbs/28kg)

Q: Is there an age limit?

A: There must be at least one person per canoe of at least 19 years of age.

Q: Can I reserve a canoe?

A: No reservations/bookings here. Just show up and enjoy. There may be a short wait.

Q: Can I bring my baby in the canoe?

A: Everyone needs to wear a PFD, so as long as your child weighs at least 20lbs/9kg, we can accommodate them with our smallest PFD's.

Q: Do you rent stand-up paddle boards or kayaks?

A: No, we only rent canoes.

Q: Are dogs allowed in the canoes?

A: Yes, we allow a single dog in our canoes, but we reserve the right to make a final decision on site depending on the size/temperament of the dog. 2 adults and ONE dog max.

Q: Can we bring our own boat to Emerald Lake?

A: Yes, you may use your own non-motorized boat on Emerald Lake. (Electric motors are Not permitted).

Q: Can we bring food/beverages in the canoes?

A: We do NOT permit consumption of alcoholic beverages in the canoes, but feel free to pack a lunch/snacks if you want.

Q: Do you have somewhere to leave gear/extra clothing while canoeing?

A: No. Please be prepared to bring everything with you in the canoe, or leave it in your vehicle.
