Mentoring & Discipleship

The Youth For Christ (NI) vision statement begins:

"Helping young people reach their full potential;

physically, emotionally, educationally and spiritually..."

Dunganoon Youth For Christ understands that developing each of these four elements individually and collectively will have positive benefits on the individuals concerned.

Dungannon Youth For Christ is as concerned in the first three elements (physical, emotional and educational potential) as it is in the fourth (spiritual). As such, to meet identified needs, or the declared wants, of young people, Dungannon Youth For Christ will seek to signpost young people towards and, as required, develop and deliver programmes, accredited courses and activities that positively encourage growth in each of the four areas.

In the book of Proverbs the following advice is found.

"Train up a child in the way they should go; even when they are old they will not depart from it."

The Youth For Christ (NI) vision statement concludes that such full potential is achieved ....'through the transforming power of Jesus Christ'.

Therefore Dungannon Youth For Christ seeks to "...make disciples of all nations..." Matthew 28:19 (ESV) and having made disciples to mentor them, through engaging in prayer, bible study, and faithful action, towards spiritual maturity.

In order to both mentor and disciple young people effectively, Dungannon Youth For Christ seeks to ensure that all those volunteers who are actively engaged in mentoring and discipling young people are themselves part of an ongoing mentoring and discipleship programme.
