Coffee & cocoa Houses
Coffee Houses
Each Coffee House is a night of free entertainment provided by local talent from ages 14 to 25. Coffee Houses are a great opportunity for youth to share what they have been working on - whether it be for school, competition, or personal enjoyment - with their community and get practice performing in front of an audience. With music, poetry, skits, and more, Coffee Houses have something for everyone. Concessions of coffee, hot chocolate, and pastries are sold to raise funds for our summer youth programs, Camp Broadway and The Broadway Intensive.
Our Cocoa Houses feature performers in grades 5-8. Additionally, our annual Mocha House features performers of all ages (when you mix coffee and cocoa, you get a mocha)! Students, teachers, siblings, retirees, and everyone in between all have a blast supporting each other during this event.
**Note: Performers, stagehands, and volunteers receive service hours for Coffee/Cocoa House events**

Perform/Participate
Act Requirements
An act can be a monologue, a short scene, a poetry reading, singing with a track or live music, an acapella group, a comedy act - you name it! An act should be no more than 10 minutes (they can be shorter - just not longer). We ask that all acts be family-appropriate. Please check the age requirements for the event when submissions are being accepted (Coffee House: 14 (9th grade) - 25 years old, Cocoa House: 6th-8th grade, Mocha House: all ages).
Stagehand Requirements
Stagehands are responsible for keeping the entertainment running smoothly. If you are interested in being a stagehand, you will be asked fill out a questionnaire that will appear on this page at a later date.
Virtual Submissions
All acts must submit a preview video of at least 1.5 minutes of their act to info@theartsbarn.net at least 1 week before the Coffee House. At the beginning of the video, please slate with your name, age, school/place of employment, and grade (if applicable). In addition, you will be asked fill out a questionnaire that will appear on this page at a later date.
Day Of
Performers and stagehands, please arrive at the listed venue at 4:45 on the day of the event for sound check/walk through.
