Homecoming Information:
Our homecoming celebration may look slightly different this year, but there is an exciting event happening on campus this morning. The football team is chasing history as they look to improve to 5-0 for the first time. Kickoff will be at 11:00. If you don't want to brave the rain, the game is on Froggy Radio and streaming on the NFHS Network. Homecoming King and Queen will be crowned at the dance tonight. There will not be a ceremony during the game.
Bowling Team:
There will be an interest meeting for anyone interested in being on the Bowling Team on Tuesday, October 1st at 7pm in the Library. If you would like to attend but cannot, please reach out to our Athletic Director Adam Johnson for more information.
Fall Break School:
If your student is interested in raising their 1st Term grade in any course, Fall Break School will be offered on Monday (10/7), Tuesday (10/8), and Wednesday (10/9) from 9 am to noon. Transportation is not available. Registration is required and the deadline is Wednesday, October 2nd by the end of the school day. Educational Enhancement Requests:
To request an absence to attend or participate in an educational activity, the form must be turned in to your principal at least five (5) days prior to the absence for approval. The proposed activity must have significant educational value and be composed of an intensive program related to the core curriculum (e.g. art programs, dance programs, State Fair activities, workshops that are educational in nature, college visits, etc.). The Principal will use his good judgment to determine if the activity meets guidelines. A student may be approved for up to ten (10) days of absence per year for this purpose.
Flu Shots:
The Health Department will be at Western Hills on October 21st to give flu shots to those students who want it. If you want your student to have a flu shot, please fill out the form and send it to the front office.

Driver License Requirement:
Students needing to fulfill their Graduated Driver Licensing requirement can register for a free class by going to www.kentuckysafedriver.com and clicking on the Alive at 25 links located under Courses or by calling 502/699-2295. The next course is offered on Thursday, October 25th at The Frankfort Christian Academy from 4:00-8:00 and Monday, November 18th at Western Hills from 4:30 pm to 8:30 pm.
PSAT:
The PSAT will be offered at Western Hills on October 23rd during the school day. Any student in grades 9-11 can sign up to take the exam. The Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) is a standardized test designed to help students prepare for the SAT or ACT and to qualify for National Merit Scholarship programs (qualifying for the scholarship is only available for competing Juniors). 2023/2024 Yearbooks:
The 2023/2024 WHHS Yearbook will be coming in for pick-up around Sept 30th. Emails will be sent out to last year's seniors and the 2025 sophomores, juniors and seniors with a date and time for pickup. We know it is going to be an amazing book! Thank you for your patience!
Sport Physicals at WHHS:
We are excited to announce that the Franklin County Health Department school nurses and APRN, Jane Bartram, will be offering Sports physicals at WHHS on 10/2/2024 from 4-6:30. If you are interested in this service please go to the following link, http://fchd.org/FCSPhysicals, select a time and complete all questions. The charge will be $25.00, we will take cash or card. If you have any questions, please reach out to the school nurse.
Tackle Hunger Food Drive:
The West vs. the East in a food drive! Hills will be collecting food items during the month of October. Help us win the most food collected and bragging rights for a year! Tackle Hunger Food Drive If you bring 2-3 cans of food to the following WH games, you will get in FREE!: October 1st - Soccer Game, October 11th - Football Game and October 15th - Volleyball Game.
French Students:
Western Hills French students are headed to France in June 2025! This trip is open to all Western Hills students who have taken or are currently taking French, as well as their parents or guardians. Contact Ms. Board (caroline.board@franklin.kyschools.us) for more information.
Track and Field:
Track and Field conditioning starts Monday, October 14th. It will be Monday - Friday from 5:00-7:00 PM at the Track.
Senior Parents:
Lifetouch photos will be at WHHS the morning of Friday, October 4th to take formal pictures of our seniors. These are old fashioned drapes/ tuxedo photos. Girls need a tank top to wear under the drape. Boys need a white t-shirt to wear underneath the white dress shirt and black jacket which will be provided for them. Makeup photos will be Wednesday, November 13th. Parents will have the option to purchase these photos, however, it is not required. Thank you for reminding your Senior!
