Dear Wolverine Families,

It was good seeing our students back at school this week. I hope everyone had a wonderful winter break. Now that we are in January, the weather is keeping us on our toes. Thank you for being flexible during these days when our district leaders are having to make difficult decisions about cancellations and NTI days. Safety of students, staff and community is always their first concern. Please make sure your students dress warmly and have a coat during these cold days. We ask students not bring blankets to school. If your child is in need of warm clothing or a winter coat, please contact Ms. Jolly, our Youth Service Coordinator, at Keelie.Jolly@franklin.kyschools.us.

Winter Homecoming:

Winter Homecoming has been moved from January 17th to Saturday, February 21st. It will be held in the new auxiliary gym from 8-11. If your student is bringing a non-Western Hills guest to the dance, please have them turn in a guest form by Wednesday, February 18th . Guest Form

YSC Newsletter:

In case you missed the YSC newsletter that went out earlier this week, here are a couple important messages:

Caps and Gowns needed. If you have a cap and gown from the past few years, please consider donating it to the school for graduates in need.

Senior Prom Assistance: Memorial Baptist Church will be hosting Cinderella's Closet in March. Seniors participating will receive a prom dress, shoes, jewelry and gift bag. Contact Keelie Jolly at keelie.jolly@franklin.kyschools.us if your student needs assistance.

Term 2:

Term 2 ended on January 7th. Students started their new 4th block on January 8th. Grades will be posted by Monday, January 12th at midnight.

Key Club Fundraiser:

No one wants to cook on Mondays. Come support the Key Club on Monday, January 12th from 4:00-8:00 pm at Qdoba. Key Club will receive 25% of sales donated. See flyer for the scan code. Key Club Qdoba Flyer

SAT:

Kentucky switched from the ACT to the SAT test over the summer. Some students are feeling a bit anxious about the SAT, so we wanted to share an opportunity for them to take some practice tests. The Kentucky Virtual Library (KYVL) provides College Admissions Test Preparation. There are 8 SAT Practice Math tests and 8 SAT Practice Reading and Writing tests available. Driver License Requirement:

Students needing to fulfill their Graduated Driver Licensing requirement can register for a free class by going to www.kentuckysafedriver.com and clicking on the Alive at 25 link located under Courses or by calling 502/699-2295. The next course is offered on Thursday, January 15th at Western Hills from 4:30 pm to 8:30 pm. There are several spots left if you need to register your student.
