Dear Parents and/or Guardians,

We had a good short week of school. The students and teachers enjoyed being back and catching up from the NTI day. As educators, at Western Hills, we are thankful for all the great opportunities we have to impact the young lives of our students. Our students are the reason we’re here. As the second semester begins, the teachers and administrators have one vision for our students and we hope it closely matches yours. We want ALL of our Wolverine scholars to thrive and succeed through hard work, consistent attendance, perseverance, utilizing help from our faculty, and working diligently. We expect a great deal from our students because they are very capable of producing great results!

Project Graduation Fundraiser:

Snow Makeup Day:

The first snow make up day will be Tuesday, February 18th. School will be in session on that day. Please adjust your schedules accordingly.

NTI Reminder:

I want to pass along dates and info. concerning NTI work and the due dates for students to turn in work.

* NTI Day 3, January 21st assignments are due January 29th.

* NTI Day 4, January 22nd assignments are due January 30th.

Don't forget that in the event that a NTI day is called due to bad weather, students are responsible for checking their google classrooms for assignments.

Food Drive:

Western Hills takes on Franklin County in a food drive on January 31st. Bring 1-2 canned goods to the basketball game that night to help the Emergency Community Food Pantry. The winning team will be announced at halftime!

Chromebook Usage and Replacement Chargers:

At Western Hills High School, students use their Chromebooks daily, so it’s important that they bring them to school fully charged each day.

If your student has misplaced their Chromebook charger, a replacement is available for $40. To purchase a replacement, you can bring cash or a check (made out to Western Hills High School) to the WHHS library. Please see Rhonda Bell or Erin Ford, who will be happy to assist you.

Driver License Requirement:

Students needing to fulfill their Graduated Driver Licensing requirement can register for a free class by going to www.kentuckysafedriver.com and clicking on the Alive at 25 links located under Courses or by calling 502/699-2295. The course on Monday, January 27th at Western Hills still has 5 openings if you want to register this weekend. The next courses offered are on Thursday, February 20th from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Frankfort Christian Academy and Thursday, March 13th at Western Hills from 4:30-8:30..

ACT Exam:

On March 11, the 11th-grade students will be taking the ACT exam. During this time, 11th graders will not have access to their phones. This year, we are unable to offer the ACT to 10th Graders in March. If 10th graders are still interested in taking the ACT this school year, your student can speak to their counselor about registering for a National ACT Exam.

Upcoming Important Dates:

February 15th: Winter Homecoming Dance
February 17th: No School in observance of Presidents' Day.
February 18th: SCHOOL IS IN SESSION. This will be the first snow make-up day.
