First day of school (8/13/25) for the morning (arrival):
Front Foyer is open at 7:30 for drop off. Doors to the cafeteria will open at 8 am.
Students can sit in the library or cafeteria until the 8:30 am bell.
Tardy bell is at 8:35 am.
Breakfast and lunch are free for all students.
Bus Riders will enter the cafeteria from the back of the school. You cannot go to the student parking lot and sit in a car with a friend. Once in the building you must stay in the building.
If you are unsure of your child's bus, please check with transportation at 695-6707 and have your address ready to give them.
Thank you for your patience with arrival/dismissal and, most importantly, in keeping students safe. Car rider pick up is in the same spot as drop off, which is the loop right out front by the flagpole. The line seems long, but we usually have everyone through by 3:45 pm. Please make sure to follow the signs and loop around Bridgeport. Do not allow your student to cross the busy intersection and get in your car in the Bridgeport lot. Please refrain from parking in the teacher or student lots for pickups in the afternoon (SROs have been asked to watch for this). It can be dangerous for the student drivers and some of our teachers must leave immediately at the bell to run teams or clubs. Please take your time and keep all of the students safe, after the first couple of days, the process gets quicker.
Car Riders:
If your child is a car rider, please use the front of school for drop off and pick up. For the safety of everyone, as well as our traffic flow, we ask you to please follow this procedure. Due to construction, the overflow lot by the softball field may not be accessible. The line out front in the afternoon is long, but usually is cleared out by 10 minutes. Hills Student Pickup
Moment of Silence:
A moment of silence or reflection is required in all schools and notification of such is required by KRS 158.175. We will adhere to this every morning immediately following the schoolwide announcements.
The moment of silence or reflection shall occur at the commencement of the first class of each day with the following guidelines included in the statute and Policy 08.1351:
The moment of silence or reflection shall be at least one (1) minute but not exceed two (2) minutes in duration;
Students are to remain seated and silent and make no distracting display so that each student may, in the exercise of his or her individual choice, meditate, pray, or engage in any other silent activity which does not interfere with, distract from, or impede other students’ exercise of individual choice;
District personnel shall not provide instruction to any student regarding the nature of any reflection that a student may engage in during the moment of silence or reflection.
Parents are encouraged to review these guidelines and to provide guidance to your student(s) regarding the moment of silence or reflection.
Approved Communication Systems:
SB 181 requires school districts to designate a traceable communication system or systems to be the exclusive means for school district employees and volunteers to communicate electronically with students. The following communication platforms have been approved by the board. Approved by the FCS Board on June 2nd: ThrillShare; Infinite Campus; School/District Google Accounts; FCS Phone System; Dojo; Connect; Go Guardian; Remind
For Dual Credit BCTC students: Approved by the FCS Board on July 14th: Blackboard (Anthology); Outlook (kctcs.edu domain); Starfish (EAB). Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns regarding these approved communication platforms.
Sexual Extortion - KRS 531.125:
Sexual extortion, also known as sextortion, occurs when someone threatens another person – through violence, harm to reputation, or distribution of explicit material – with the intent to coerce them into unwanted actions. These actions may include engaging in sexual conduct, providing explicit content, providing money or valuables, or complying with demands against the victims’ will. These situations can cause significant emotional distress and place victims in dangerous situations.
Ensuring the safety and wellbeing of our students is one of the many responsibilities that we have as a school district. Senate Bill (SB) 73 , related to sexual extortion, was recently passed by the legislature and requires the district to provide the attached information about sexual extortion to help ensure that parents/guardians have the resources they need to support their student(s) and protect them from being victimized (KRS 531.125).
Policy Update: Cell Phones & Personal Devices:
We changed our cell phone policy to adopt an "Away for the Day" approach during instructional hours. This initiative is designed to increase academic engagement, minimize distractions, foster face-to-face social interaction, and support student safety. Here is a link to our new cell phone policy.
