Powder brows is a cosmetic semi-permanent makeup technique designed to create eyebrows with soft powder effect, very similar to eyebrow pomade or pencil. Powder brows can be the same density through the entire brow, or they can have an Ombre effect. This means that the inner part of the brow is lighter and gradually gets darker further out towards the tail. It is a two step process, and it consists of the initial insertion of the pigment and the touch-up that takes place 6-8 weeks later.
Avoid drinking coffee or any caffeinated beverages prior to your appointment, trust us, we know it’s hard!
Avoid drinking alcohol 24 hours before your appointment.
Avoid tanning or sunbathing three days before your appointment.
No chemical peels or harsh exfoliating treatments for at least one week.
Avoid using Retin-A/Retinoids/Retinols (on the forehead area), filler, and botox for two weeks prior to your appointment.
Avoid taking Fish oil, Vitamin E, Aspirin, and other blood thinners 24 hours before.
There is no one-size-fits all with the healing process as each client heals in their own unique way.
Micro-pigmentation takes about 7 to 10 days to heal before it can get completely wet without disturbing the healing process.
Blot your eyebrows if they get weepy within 24 hours post-procedure with a dry cotton round.
The biggest importance is for you to dry heal as much as possible during the 10 days of healing. What this means is to apply healing balm only when you need it, such as when brows scab and get dry or itchy. During the shower, keep your face away from the shower head or take a bath. Please wash your face carefully around the eyebrow without getting water on the treated area for 10 days. Remember, only a rice-grain size of balm is needed. Less is more! Too much balm could pull out the pigment and interfere with healing.
The following must be avoided during all 10 days post PMU procedure:
Heavy sweating
Swimming
Hot sauna, hot bath, or jacuzzi
Sun tanning or salon tanning (UV/UVA rays)
Any laser or chemical treatments or peelings, and/or any creams containing Retin-A or Glycolic acid on the face or neck
Picking, peeling, or scratching of the brow area in order to avoid scarring of the area or removal of the pigment
The entire healing process will take anywhere from 2-4 weeks depending on your body regeneration and age. Your eyebrows will go through several phases during the healing cycle as outlined below.
Immediately After
You may feel some tenderness in the eyebrow area, similar to that of a sunburn. You may also experience redness around the eyebrow area and possible swelling.
Days 1 + 2
There will be a significant thickening and darkening of the eyebrow area. They will look much more defined and sharp. This is completely normal and will subside.
Day 3
You may experience moderate to thick scabbing. Your eyebrows will start to itch and will appear thicker in texture.
Day 4
Exfoliation begins and any excess pigment from the procedure will fade away. The skin begins to flake and will peel from the outside edges first.
(it is very important to do not pick the scabs off)
Days 5 - 10
The pigment will finish flaking and will result in a softer and more narrow appearance. It will stay like this for a few days until the pigment clarifies. This is just superficial color and dry skin being naturally removed from your eyebrows.
*The final look of your eyebrows will be apparent approximately 30 days after your procedure.
*Note that because of natural skin regeneration, after recovery period (peeling), brows might appear lighter than original. This might give you the impression that the color is fading too quickly. Often even with proper care, clients will develop bald spots or lose original hair strokes which make brows look uneven. It is absolutely normal. That’s is the reason why most clients will need a touchup after 6-8 weeks.
Once the eyebrow area has fully healed, a touch-up is necessary to secure the foundation of the pigment. A touch-up appointment can be made 6-8 weeks after your first session.
Once completely healed, always apply a layer of sunscreen SPF 30 to 50 on your eyebrows when exposed to the sun. Sun exposure might cause the color pigment to fade away more quickly.
LIKE BROW GEL - BUT BETTER
Lamination tames unruly brow hairs by setting them in place so every hair lies in the same direction, giving a "just-combed" effect. It’s like a keratin treatment for your brows. If you’re someone who wants fluffy brows that last 4-6 weeks with low maintenance, then this service is made just for you.
Brow lamination can be applied to the most stubborn brow hairs and will realign the direction of hair growth and improve the overall shape of the brows. It will create the look of added volume and fullness by repositioning the brow hairs to fill sparse areas. Brow lamination is suitable for clients who have both thin and thick brows. This is the ULTIMATE solution for clients who want fluffy and full eyebrows without the need for any brow gel. Just brush your brows and you’re good to go!
A few days before your appointment, please avoid any topical creams and serums that contain retinol, AHA's, and BHA’s as this will make your skin more sensitive.
For best results, please grow your eyebrow hairs and avoid trimming/threading/waxing/plucking for up to 4 weeks prior.
Your brow lamination appointment will include shaping and tinting. Your brow artist will begin by brushing your brows and coating them with a lifting solution to make them softer and more flexible. They are constantly brushed to coat each individual hair. A second solution is applied to set the brows in place. After this step, brow tint is applied to create more depth and color density. A nourishing oil is applied on the brows at the end for extra hydration and nourishment. Be sure to keep the oil on your brows until you wash them after 24 hours.
Do NOT get your laminated brows wet for 24 to 48 hours after your appointment as water deactivates the lamination.
After a week, please apply a moisturizing serum such as Castor Oil on the brows, using a spoolie to coat the hairs.
