TAMS
Independent Reading Guide

As the name implies, this site is meant to be a guide. We recognize that it can be difficult to find good books, and so we want to help!

Ms. Francois' Corner is designed to keep you informed on everything happening at the T.A.M.S. Library.

Teachers, parents, and librarians create reading lists to guide young people to good books. While this section of the site shares a similar spirit, its origin is different. This is a compilation of what Thayer Middle School students really enjoy reading outside of their required school literature. With organizational help from the English Department, Thayer Middle School students generated this compilation to guide 10-14 year olds to books they will enjoy reading.

Our English Department has not edited any titles from this compilation; if a book earned a student's sincere recommendation, that was enough for it to earn a place. This section of the site includes links to brief descriptions, to student recommendations, to other books in the series if applicable, to Common Sense Media so that parents and students can understand content, and even to Amazon should one be ready to buy the book (there are many library books here). Before committing to summer's pleasure reading, consult this section and consider these titles.

There are a number of terrific resources out there, including various Book Awards and Book Lists that should help guide middle schoolers to high quality books.
