Project Intro
In this project, you will learn about one of the countries that represents your ancestors. You will learn about your unique heritage by reading about the customs and traditions that are an important part of your family’s story. If you don't know your heritage, that's ok. Choose a country of your choice that you are interested in learning more about.
You will explore the geography, religion, achievements, political system, economy and social structure of the country you have chosen. The information that you gather will be presented in a poster.
Before you can create your cube, you must complete the Culture Cube: Think, Pair, Share handout.
Below are some websites to get you started, but feel free to use others:
Kids World Travel Guide- A small selection of countries are featured on this website, which includes information about each country organized by topic.
Fact Monster- Each Country Profile provides information on: Geography, Maps, Flag, History, Current ruler, Area Population, Capital, Largest cities, Languages, Ethnicity/race, Religion, Literacy rate, Economy, and Government.
National Geographic Kids - Type your country name into the search box and check out the information about your country, organized by topics.
Students of the World - This non-profit website includes a lot of statistics and facts about a very large selection of countries.
Cube Directions:
Decorate your cube with drawings that represent each concept, one drawing per side.
Drawings should be neat, colorful and legible.
Cut out the cube and glue it together.
Make sure to put your name somewhere on the cube.
The goal is to provide a “snapshot view” of the country
