In Ancient Egypt, being a mummy wasn’t scary—it was goals. Egyptians believed in the afterlife, and they took “packing for the trip” very seriously. First, your organs got their own VIP jars (except your heart, which stayed for judgment). Then, you got wrapped tighter than a burrito in miles of linen. Finally, you were stuffed into a fancy coffin and buried with snacks, jewelry, and sometimes even a pet—because no one wants to be bored for eternity.
Read the All About…Mummification reading. While reading, highlight the 8 steps in the mummification process. Once you have highlighted the steps, have them checked by the teacher.
Next, use the highlighted reading to create a mummification wheel.
Wheel Requirements
Write a description of each of the 8 steps of the mummification process in your own words. This should be in the outer ring of the wheel.
Draw a full color, detailed picture of each of the 8 steps. This should be in the middle ring of the wheel.
On the Sarcophagus handout, complete the following:
Write a short story about your pharaoh. Give information about their life and how they died.
Decorate the sarcophagus to resemble your pharaoh.
Cut out both patterns and staple together on the top with the story on the inside
On the back, write your full name, per/day and #.
Day 1- Finish Mummification Wheel writing
