Today we got to sleep in, because we had to start at 12:00. Once we got there, we truly got to meet the group with the Yetians. We got a tour through the school, which was very messy and hard to navigate, because of the many rooms and thight hallways right after we got to explore a bit of the city of Oulu. If you want to see the photo's, then press this.
Once we got back at the school we sung again because the previous day both Julia and Helli turned 17! There was cake, cookies and mudcake because, you only turn 17 once right?
Then right after we got split up into either the Finnish or the Dutch team. The Finnish team is called 'Snufkins' and the Dutch team is called 'Too-Ticky'.
We did some activities to get to know 'Tove Jansson' better, who is the theme of this project. These activities also helped us to get to know each other better and to improve our skills to work together with each other. After this we had our first DMPC. This is short for 'Daily Meeting for Pupils and Coordinators'. In this hour we got to discuss our situation with the fellow Dutch students and possibly get some advice from our dutch teachers. In the project you have to talk english a lot so to have a moment with just dutch people is well appreciated. At 4 we were done with the day and headed home to the families.
For the finns the day was exciting as well. The old Yetis felt that it was surprisingly different compared to last year to be hosting, rather than being the Pokemon. In the beginning it has been kind of weird to have someone new in your house. For some of the hosts it’s the first time having quests for such a long time and it’ll definitely take some time to get used to. Overall the experience has been amazing so far.
