Isabela City Mayor Sitti Djalia A. Turabin-Hataman attended today, January 27, 2021, the Organizational Meeting of City Technical Educational and Skills Development Committee (CTESDC) at Grand Astoria Hotel, Zamboanga City. She is Co-Chairperson of said Committee.


During the said meeting, Mayor Hataman expressed her gratitude to TESDA IX for its support to LGU-Isabela City as partner agency in providing skills trainings to the constituents of Isabela City under her current administration.


She firmly believes that TESDA skills trainings greatly contribute in the reduction of poverty incidence in the city. Skills trainings should be aligned with the City Development Plan and the Regional Development Plan, she added. Further, she emphasized the importance of including traditional skills trainings such as that of Yakan Tennun Weaving in the list of skills priorities of the city. The City Mayor also took the opportunity to invite the members of the Regional Committee to hold future meetings at Isabela City.


The members of the City (TESD) Technical Education and Skills Development Committee of Zamboanga City-Isabela City District Office are: Chairperson-Zamboanga City Mayor Ma. Isabel G. Climaco-Salazar represented City Administrator Marie Angelique C. Go, EnP; Co-Chairperson-Isabela City Mayor Sitti Djalia Turabin-Hataman; Pedro Rufino N. Soliven of ZCCCIFI; Fr. Filmore Calibo of ZIAPTVET; Dir. Grace DC Aduca of DTI & Ramon Elumbra of SMP-PIILU and Provincial Director Omarkhayyam I. Dalagan of TESDA Isabela City / Zamboanga City District Office.


The creation of the Regional and Local TESD Committee is provided for under Section 19 of Republic Act (RA) No. 7796 or the TESDA Act of 1994 and in Rule V of the Implementing Rules of that Act. The establishment of TESDC aims to coordinate and monitor the delivery of all skills development activities by the public and private sectors and serve as the TESDC of the Regional and Local Development Councils.
