In a strong demonstration of rehabilitation through skills development, 46 Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs), known as Living Spacers, graduated from TESDA-Agusan del Norteโs Food Processing livelihood training at the Agusan del Norte Provincial Jail, Barangay Libertad, Butuan City on April 15, 2025 in partnership with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) โ Agusan del Norte. The program, which covered Dried Fish, Longganisa, and Tocino Making, marks a significant step in rehabilitation through skills development.
This initiative, a collaboration among TESDA, TESDA-Agusan del Norte Provincial Director Rey M. Cueva, Agusan del Norte Provincial Jail, led by Jail Warden Fermin C. Antenorio; and the Northern Mindanao School of Fisheries, represented by Vocational School Administrator Nancy C. De Guzman, reflects TESDAโs commitment to inclusive education.
The Regional Director Florencio F. Sunico Jr. emphasized the importance of building sustainable livelihood projects within jails, reinforcing that incarceration should not hinder purpose or productivity. The program equips PDLs with vital skills for reintegration and a renewed sense of hope.
