Principal's Pen

Welcome to the Terrace End School website and thank you for providing us the opportunity to share some aspects of our school with you.

My name is Sue Allomes and I am proud to be the Tumuaki of Terrace End School. I have been at T.E.S. for over ten years now and we have seen big changes at our school in our buildings, our roll growth and our curriculum. We all love that we are a “Bikes in Schools” school and provide bikes, scooters and a bike track for our children to develop skills on. We have also selected to retain our own swimming pool, meaning our children get to swim frequently during term one developing water safety and confidence.

Terrace End School “ Learning on the Terrace, “Ako ki te kura atea ” ….

Was opened in 1884 and is one of the oldest schools in Palmerston North. The focus of our school is constantly on the business of learning, for children, staff and families. Our vision statement “Enter to learn and Learn for life” encompasses all that we believe in.

I am passionate about all our children seeing themselves as successful learners, as are all our staff.

Our school has in place a quality curriculum, quality teaching and quality relationships amongst staff, learners and the school community.

We work as a TEAM.

TRUST, EXCELLENCE, ACTIONS, and MANAAKITANGA underpins all that happens in our school. Together Everyone Achieves More!

We believe that as well as excellence in teaching, there should be enjoyment at school. School should be fun.

We look for ways to make our school interesting and enjoyable for all.

Our kids are great, and to optimise their learning, we provide a comprehensive educational experience. Our school is designed to ensure that each learner is provided with a range of experiences: sports, art’s, ict’s, inquiry learning, discovery and well planned literacy and mathematics programmes that develop well rounded students. Our seniors work on chrome books and the juniors have access to i-pads. We provide the digital devices our children work on.

Uniform at Terrace End School is a simple choice, you may wear solid colours (no stripes, patterns, words or pictures) in red, blue or black. Sweatshirts, polo tops, round neck t-shirts, fleece zip up jackets, track pants or knee length shorts, or skorts. We do not ask for a logo on your uniform pieces, and items are easily available from The Warehouse, Postie Fashion and K-Mart making it accessible and reasonable in cost for all.

I am proud to be Principal of a school which, in TEAM partnership with community, families, students, and staff has a strong commitment to the development of our learners'.

Ehara taku toa, I te toa takitahi
