Te Ohu Whakaita Charitable Trust

Welcome

Te Ohu Whakaita Trust (TOW) was first established in 2009 to not only raise awareness but to educate and increase the public’s appreciation of Maaori culture in the Waikato region.

Becoming a Charitable Trust in 2015, it provides a platform for “key Maaori events to be accessed and valued by all people”. This is currently achieved primarily through the celebrated observance of Matariki - The Maaori New Year where Te Ohu Whakaita Charitable Trust hosts the annual Matariki ki Waikato Festival.
