How Can We Help?
How Can We Help?
Understanding is the first step—but action matters too.
Be Supportive, Not Curious
Avoid invasive questions about their alters or trauma.
Respect their boundaries. If they share, listen. If they don’t, don’t push.
Use Respectful Language
Use the name and pronouns each alter asks for—just like you would with anyone else.
Avoid words like “split,” “crazy,” or “multiple personality.”
Be Trustworthy
Many people with DID have experienced betrayal or abuse.
Keep their privacy safe. Never share their diagnosis unless they allow it
Be patient if they have memory gaps or seem distant.
Advocate Against Stigma
Correct misinformation when you hear it.
