Purpose
Sukkot is also known as the Feast of Tabernacles. Sukkot begins on the fifteenth of Tishrei and last for seven days. During Sukkot we are to dwell in booths (sukkah) for seven days to remind us of the temporary dwelling places in the wilderness. On Sukkot you worship the Lord with the Four Species (Lulav and Etrog.) While holding the species a blessing is said and waved in six directions (N, E, S, W, Up & Down) The first and eighth day (Shemini Atzeret) are Holy Convocations in which no work is permitted. Lev 23:39-42
