Full-time professor at the Department of Mathematics of the Universidad de Sonora for 38 years ago. Dr. Soto Obtained his BSc in Mathematics at the Universidad de Sonora (UNISON) in 1980, and his MSc and PhD in Math Education by the CINVESTAV-IPN in 1992 and 2003, respectively. Founder of the Mastering (1990) and Doctorate (2021) posgrade programs in Math Education of the UNISON. Has taking part in the design and execution of several professionalization programs for math teachers in basic, middle, high school, and superior levels. His work in math teaching have been awarded by the Sociedad Matematica Mexicana (SMM) and he has received the prize distinguished professor, granted by his own institution. Dr. Soto has been speaker in diverse national and international conferences on Math Education and his work has been published in high-quality journals, book chapters and conference proceedings. He has addressed 14 theses of MSc in Math Education. His research areas are the use of technological resources in teaching mathematics and design of projects of didactic intervention.
