Solar System Card: Blank Inside, Stickers Included!

About the Project:

A tech-craft kit that's out of this world. Build your own pop-up, light-up solar system greeting card that turns on when you contact Voyager - it's the newest tech-craft kit from TechnoChic.

On August 20th and September 5th 1977, (40 years ago!) the Voyager spacecraft lifted off to explore the outer planets of the solar system. Voyager inspires me to keep exploring, learning and breaking boundaries -- like breaking the boundaries between tech and craft with my TechnoChic tech-craft kits. :)

TechnoChic has launched a Kickstarter campaign to add to the product line of TechnoChic tech-craft kits. TechnoChic tech-craft kits combine arts and crafts with science, DIY electronics and paper engineering.

The new kit: Space!

Make a light-up pop-up greeting card of our solar system! Makers build a real electronic circuit and switch that lights up the sun when squeezed. The kits come with pre-cut paper shapes and electronic components, and include online instructions with detailed photo illustrations, tips, and explanations of the skills learned. Build simple circuitry and paper engineering while making a greeting card for someone you love!

Inspiration: The Voyager Journey

In August and September 1977, the Voyager mission launched two spacecraft. The original plans for the mission were to flyby and study Jupiter and Saturn, but Voyager 1 and 2 have given us so much more - close up pictures of Uranus and Neptune, and our first understanding of interstellar space - a place beyond our Sun's influence. With them we sent a cultural snapshot and map toward our home on two golden records in case they encounter intelligent extra-terrestrial life. It's the ultimate inspiration to keep learning, exploring and breaking boundaries. Just as the golden records point home, in the card kit the Voyager serves as a switch to illuminate the sun and show our place in the universe.
