How did homecoming start? Well, that's a very good question. Homecoming started around 1910. It was at the University of Missouri, where they held a parade and an intercollegiate football game. Homecoming is now popular in the 21st century. It fosters school spirit, strengthens community bonds, and it provides students with a sense of belonging. Homecoming just isn't in America, it's also in Canada! You know how at our football games, there is royalty such as a queen and a king? Well, royalty didn’t start until the 1950’s. Fun fact: Homecoming used to be held only in spring. Why do they call it homecoming? Homecoming basically comes from, “people are coming back to their school.” Homecoming is more than a school dance or a football game; it is a celebration of tradition, community, and belonging. Homecoming is marked as one of the most anticipated events of the school year. Now, a question for you: Do you think Park City should have a homecoming dance?
