Elon Musk lost his title of “world’s richest person” to Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison. Lawrence (Larry) Ellison is an American businessman and entrepreneur who co-founded software company Oracle Corporation. In July 2025, Ellison was the second-wealthiest person in the world, according to Bloomberg Billionaires Index. According to the same index, Ellison’s wealth jumped by $101 billion, now equaling $393 billion after Oracle’s stunningly strong earnings report Tuesday evening; Ellison is now the first-wealthiest, surpassing Musk’s net worth of $385 billion.

This shift occurred after Oracle's shares experienced a significant surge, climbing as much as 41%, driven by a promising outlook for its cloud business and its growing role in AI computing. The company's market valuation now nears $947 billion.
