This week, I have decided to interview our new superintendent, Mr. Whitesell. Mr. Whitesell is one of our new staff members this year and is coming in with exciting changes for our school district.
The first question I asked Mr. Whitesell was “How long have you been a superintendent for?”, to which he responded with “32 years.”
Next, I asked him “Where did you attend college?”
“Eastern Montana college…It’s called MSUB now,” was his response, followed by “I got my masters in New Mexico.”
“What’s one thing you really enjoy about Park City?” was the next question, and he replied with, “I like the deep roots,” as well as-after a quick talk about his student teaching back in 1990, “...Coming back to where I student taught.”
To oppose the last question, I then asked, “If you could change anything about this school, what would you change?” and he responded with, “That’s a tough question…I don’t think there is anything I’d change,” but after a quick back and forth talk, he said, “I’d hold people more accountable,” in reference to punishments regarding phones, tardies/absences, etc.
Finally, I asked, “What’s the biggest challenge you’ve faced in your time as a superintendent?” to which he responded with, “School funding.”
Mr. Whitesell has been very enthusiastic about his new position in the Park City staff and has expressed his positive attitude towards not only our school but our town and students as well.
