Whether you are subbing as a Teacher or as an Educational Support Professional, you are an integral part of the team in meeting the needs of each and every student. Below you will find information on the In-person Onboarding Sessions, required online trainings and Professional Learning opportunities available to you.
Substitutes are required to attend our onboarding session prior to working in the schools. Sessions typically are on Wednesday mornings at the John J. Hosmanek Educational Support Center, 3600 - 52nd Street from 8:00 - 12:00 PM.
Topics include but are not limited to: Expectations, District Policies, Accepting Positions, Payroll, Classroom Management, Technology, Safety Training, and Trauma Information.
All district employees must complete annual compliance training within 60 days of hire.

KUSD believes that all its employees should have high quality professional learning opportunities. We use the Frontline Professional Growth Platform for our employees to view the many opportunities available to them throughout the year. If you require the KUSD Substitute Teacher Training to qualify for your Substitute Teaching License, you will be assigned the course in Frontline Professional Growth.
In addition, a Professional Learning Catalog is published three times a year, highlighting courses and workshops offered. The Professional Learning website is a great resource for any of your professional learning needs.
To login to FrontLine, please go to KUSD.edu, select RESOURCES, and then select CLASSLINK. Log into CLASSLINK and open the FRONTLINE app.
If you do not currently hold a Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction license for your role, substitutes will need to apply for their license within 30 days of employment. KUSD Substitute Services will provide more information upon hire.
Substititute Educational Support Professional (ESP): All Substitute ESP require a WI DPI License:
Application for Special Education Program Aide License and Renewal
KUSD Substitute Services will provide the PI-1622-Aide Request
Cost of Special Education Program Aide License: $100 (As of October 2023 - always verify information via WI DPI licensing site)
If Fingerprinting required: Currently $50, if processed at Livescan collection site via Fieldprint.

Substitute Teacher: All Substitute Teachers require a WI DPI License
KUSD offers the substitute teacher training in the form of online, self-paced modules.
Once you have completed the training, KUSD Substitute Services will provide the PI-1633 Substitute Teacher Training Verification Form.
Cost of Three-Year Substitute License: $125: (As of October 2023 - always verify information via WI DPI licensing site)
