Rise Teacher

April Barnett

My name is April Barnett and I have been teaching students just like yours for over 20 years. I am a graduate of Tarleton State University with a BSW and teaching certificate in all level special education.

I love to read and write and crochet. I hate cooking, but I love to travel. But most of all, I love to see students who never thought they could, achieve more than they ever dreamed possible.

I look forward to working with your student this year and helping them to see the potential within them self.

LINC has changed it's name to RISE!

We will RISE so we can fly!

What is RISE?

Rise means Reaching Independence through Structured Education, but it is so much more than that. It refers to what we have been doing all along and what we will continue to do: RISE beyond our own and others' expectations to achieve independence and thrive in the world around us!

Bees are our classroom mascot. But Why Bees?

According to the theory of aerodynamics, as may be readily demonstrated through wind tunnel experiments, the bumblebee is unable to fly. This is because the size, weight and shape of his body in relation to the total wingspread make flying impossible. But the bumblebee, being ignorant of these scientific truths, goes ahead and flies anyway and makes a little honey every day.

Virtual Learning

All coursework is posted in Google Classroom. Please join the Classroom by using the codes that will be sent to parents' phone numbers via text during the first week of school, or email to request the code be sent to you.

Curriculum

The curriculum used by the RISE program in FWISD is truly the best of it's kind. It is unique, focused on the needs of your student, and is catered to help them succeed in every subject. It is called Unique Learning System. We introduced this curriculum last year and both I and the students fell in love with it. Your student will have their own unique account that is tailored to fit their specific accommodations and modifications.

Keep your eye out in this space when the school year starts for our monthly lesson plans and cycle. See you soon!
