Law Enforcement I is an overview of the history, organization, and functions of local, state, and federal law enforcement. This course includes the role of constitutional law, the United States legal system, criminal law, law enforcement terminology, and the classification and elements of crime. Students study of the nature of criminal law and its philosophical and historical development, with major definitions and concepts. Instruction includes the classifications of crimes and the elements of crimes and penalties using Texas statutes as illustrations.
In addition to the regular course curriculum, students in the honors course will complete additional projects and activities related to the program of study.
