Welcome Message for Parents and Students:

I'd like to welcome your child to their Web class this year! Web is an online credit recovery course. Your child will use the program Edgenuity daily to recover or accelerate credits in different courses for graduation. He or she will be assigned possibly three or more courses to complete in Edgenuity this year. A course will be considered complete once they reach 100% progress with a grade of 70 or better. The grade they receive for the course does not count toward your child's GPA. They receive credit upon completion. Because of this, they will not get a grade for my class at the three-week or six-week period. Once they complete a course, they will see the course credit in Focus a few weeks later. The Counselors will be giving me the courses to put students in. So it may take a week or so for them to be able to begin their work in Edgenuity. Stay tuned and check Edgenuity daily. Until then, the first week of school assignments are on Google classroom. 

How you can help this year:

1.  Make sure your child is logging into Edgenuity and working for at least an hour or more daily. (They should not just be sitting idle, this is how they will be counted Present for the class. The more time they spend on Edgenuity, the faster they will finish courses.)

2. Check their progress daily or weekly every Friday. (Look at their Overall Grade and Course Percent Complete only, the Actual Grade only shows if they are behind in finishing the course in a specific time. They should complete 10% or more each week.)

3. Have them ask for help if they are not passing the course or having trouble with an assignment. (Via my cell number or email.)

Thank you so much for your help in ensuring the success of your child in this course. There will be very little direct instruction from me, most learning takes place in Edgenuity. I'm here for help at any time. Please have your child sign up for my Remind, (listed above). I will send messages periodically this way. Lastly, I do make parent calls regularly if for some reason your child falls behind in completing their 10% progress each week. Thank you again!
