Instructional Coaches
What is Inclusion? At Fort Worth ISD, our teachers believe that every learner matters equally and our teachers strive to meet the needs of EVERY student. Inclusive teaching utilizes a range of educational approaches to teach students using more than one teaching style. Inclusion teachers strive to create an environment where students feel valued and have equal access to the learning experience. Our teachers build skills through a supportive learning environment with these techniques in mind
Provide a supportive relationship with all students
Increase the potential for academic growth
Increase student engagement and participation
With supportive classrooms, students are more likely to take educational risks with difficult curriculum
What is Resource? According to IDEA (Individual with Disabilities Educational Improvement Act), children with disabilities are to be educated in the "least restrictive environment," which means they are to learn alongside children without disabilities to the maximum extent possible. This often means pulling students into a smaller setting to meet the needs of the student in compliance to their IEP (Individualized Education Plan). When working with students in Special Education, Fort Worth ISD strives to meet the needs of all students. A Resource room is a program specially designed to work with student with various learning disabilities by providing various learning styles to meet the state TEKs (Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills) and their IEP annual goals. This is done with these techniques in mind:
Small group instruction
Tactile learning
Visual learning
Prepare students for upcoming lessons/tests/quizzes
Review previous lessons
Behavior Interventions
