Learners will demonstrate and apply phonetic knowledge and determine the meaning of and use words with affixes such as mis-, sub-, ment-, and roots such as auto, graph, and meter. 4.2 A, 4.3 C

Learners will use context within and beyond a sentence to determine the relevant meaning of unfamiliar words, and use text evidence to support an appropriate response. 4.3B, 4.7C
