Course Overview

During this self-paced, online course, you will become familiar with the concept of Student Data Privacy and its role within education. An overview of laws and local policies and strategies for evaluating online tools will also be presented.

All FWISD educators are welcome to attend this beginner-level session.

Recall some federal laws protecting student data.
Explain how to know if an app, website, or online tool is approved for use with FWISD students.

Log into the FWISD App Portal (MyFWISD) and explore the resources available for student use. You can click on "Add Apps" and see additional apps listed in the Ft Worth Library.

Logging into MyFWISD App Portal

Fort Worth Independent School District (FWISD) has made available to all staff and students several online apps, resources, textbooks, and more through the MyFWISD App Portal.

Note: not all listed apps will be available to all teachers; apps may be listed but not "log in" for some due to program needs. Application access depends on a teacher's content area, teaching position, and other factors.

Navigate to your Classlink Portal. Use the Classlink button below or type

fwisd.org/myfwisd

into the omnibox, or address bar, of your browser.

Click Sign in with Microsoft and enter your Active Directory credentials.

First, you will be prompted to enter your email address. For most employees, your email address is your first name, followed by a period, your last name, and the @fwisd.org domain.

If you have already reset your password, enter your new one on the following screen. If you have not yet reset your password, you will use the default password. Note that you will need to use your Employee ID Number.

Locate a tool's privacy evaluation on the Common Sense Privacy Evaluation website and read through the rating and content presented.

You must answer all questions correctly and receive a score of at least 80% to receive credit for this course.

👉You may retake the assessment as many times as you need in order to score 80%👈

NOTE:

You must be logged into your FWISD Google Account in order to take this assessment. In another browser window, navigate to www.fwisd.org/myfwisd and log in. If you have not used your FWISD Google Drive before, you must click on Google Drive within your MyFWISD portal in order to activate your FWISD Google connection. Once you have initiated that connection, you will be able to return to this page and click on the image above to take the assessment.
