Blackboard Parentlink is the approved communication tool for Fort Worth ISD. It allows teachers and administrators to send email, SMS and phone messages to all or select students in a class.
Student and parent contact information is populated directly from FOCUS and can be updated by the campus data clerk. Teachers are unable to make changes to these contacts.
Use the text, images and video to learn how to access Blackboard Parentlink.
Parentlink can now be accessed through your ClassLink Portal. Use the button below to access your portal and login with your FWISD Active Directory credentials.
Select the Blackboard Parentlink Icon.
ParentLink will open in a new tab. You will be prompted to enter your login information the first time you access ParentLink, but you will be automatically logged in the future.
If you have not already done so, the first thing you will need to do is reset your Blackboard password. Watch the video below to learn more about how to do this. In addition, there is a Quick Reference Guide with step-by-step directions for resetting your password and using Blackboard through the ClassLink Portal. If you reset your password during the 2019-2020 school year, your password should work and you should not need to complete the reset again.
Once you have successfully reset your Blackboard password and logged in, you should be automatically logged in when you access it through the ClassLink portal in the future. If you are prompted to login again in the future, remember to use your email address as your Login ID and your new password.
Read the information to learn about the Parentlink landing page.
The Blackboard landing page is simple to navigate. There are two buttons that will be used most frequently. To send a new message, you can click on the Create a Message tile. To view a message's analytics and ensure it has been delivered to your students or parents, click on Reports. We will cover these two areas in the remainder of this course.
Watch the video to learn how to send messages in Parentlink.
Complete the tutorial to practice the steps to create and send an email, text and phone message in Parentlink. Note that the steps are also linked below the tutorial.
Log into your Parentlink account and draft a message. You do not need to send your message.
Log into your Parentlink account. If you have not already done so, you will need to reset your password.
Once you are logged in, create a new message. In your message, try to do the following:
Select 1 whole class (parents and students), only the students in another class, and only a few select parents in a third class as the recipients of your message
Draft your message as an email, SMS and phone call
Record your phone message using your microphone
Schedule your message for tomorrow at 4pm
Translate your message into Spanish
Please note that you do not need to send your message.
Watch the video to learn how to track your messages and ensure that they have reached their target recipients.
