The RDSPD provides educational support services for any child who has been determined by an otolaryngologist (ENT) and a licensed audiologist to have a serious hearing loss after correction and whose hearing has been determined by a Communication Assessment to interfere with his/her educational programming.
Service delivery options are determined by the assessed needs of each student. Depending on the child’s individual needs, the appropriate placement will be determined by the Admission, Review and Dismissal committee. Placement options range from:
· Full-time placement in the regular classroom in the student’s home school, with consult or direct services from a certified teacher of students who are D/HH
· Cluster-Site inclusion classroom setting with a certified teacher of students who are D/HH (Cluster-Site Campuses: Waverly Park ES, Leonard MS & Western Hills HS
· Self-contained classroom specifically for children who are D/HH.
Students who require more intensive assistance from a certified teacher of students who are D/HH may attend one of the campuses where there is a self-contained classroom specifically for students who are D/HH. Regardless of the child’s placement, the teacher of the D/HH will work closely with the child, his/her parents, and classroom teacher to identify necessary modifications to support the child’s educational programming.
