Students with special education needs can succeed in the workplace with the right support. Programs, job coaching, and partnerships with employers help them build skills and find jobs.
An apprenticeship is a hands-on way to learn work skills, combining work and college experience. It requires 16 credits and offers training in over 150 skilled trades in Ontario, grouped into four sectors: Construction, Industrial, Motive Power, and Service.
Project SEARCH Toronto is a school-to-work program for students with disabilities that helps prepare them for meaningful employment. It takes place entirely at a workplace, where students:
Learn employability skills with support from a teacher and skills trainers
Gain hands-on experience through three co-op placements
Explore careers and develop personalized job plans
