12/05/2018 - Program Area Review Meeting Postponed until 2019

The Toronto District School Board (TDSB) would like to notify you that the previously-scheduled public meeting to discuss the Program Area Review involving William Lyon Mackenzie CI, John Polanyi CI, Dublin Heights EMS, Faywood ABC School, Ledbury Park EMS and Summit Heights PS will be postponed until 2019. The meeting was originally being offered on two different dates at two different sites (Tuesday, December 4, 2018 and Wednesday, December 5, 2018).

The meeting has been postponed to allow the Program Area Review Team to do more work before sharing information with the school community. We apologize for any inconvenience this change may cause.

JPCI City Presents "Into the Amazon" fundraiser on Friday November 29th at John Polanyi CI from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm. Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for students.

10/22/2018 - Family Teacher Interviews

We invite parents/guardians to join us during our Family Teacher Interview Day on Tuesday October 23rd, 2018. Please note the special schedule below.

Family/Teacher Interview Schedule

The schedule for classes on Family/Teacher Interview day is as follows:

Period 1: 8:55am – 9:40am

Period 2: 9:45am – 10:25am

Period 3: 10:30am – 11:10am

Period 4: 11:15am – 11:55am

Students are dismissed from school at 11:55am.

There are two sessions for Family/Teacher Interviews:

Session 1: 1:00pm – 3:00pm

Session 2: 6:00pm – 8:00pm

10/10/18 - Interim Reports and Family Teacher Interviews

Just a reminder to all JPCI families that the interim report card will be distributed on Tuesday October 16th, 2018. We encourage all parents/guardians to come out and meet with their child's teachers during our Family Teacher Interviews on Tuesday October 23rd, 2018. For your convenience, we will have two sessions - our afternoon session will be from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm and our evening session will be from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. We look forward to seeing you all!

09/13/2018 - TDSB Digital Learning Tools Consent Form

Student privacy continues to be an area of focus for the TDSB and our parents/guardians. This September all schools are asked to obtain parent/guardian consent for the use of district provided Digital Learning Tools including G Suite for Education and Desire to Learn.

The Digital Learning Tools Consent Form will be sent home with all students. You can view a copy of this form by clicking here.

It is anticipated some parents may have questions about this consent and the digital learning tools referenced. A web page, bit.ly/TDSBDLT, has been created to provide parents/guardians with additional information.

A reminder that on this Thursday, September 13th we will be hosting our Grade 9 Curriculum Night. Parents and guardians are invited to meet with curriculum leaders. We will begin our program in the Auditorium at 6:00 pm. Looking forward to seeing you there!

1:45 pm - 3:00 pm: Grade 9 Welcome Activities

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ON WHAT TO BRING ON TUESDAY SEPTEMBER 4TH, 2018:

JPCI Activity Fee $40 covers the cost of the student agenda, a photo ID and Year Book. The Activity Fee also allows students to participate in clubs, sports, and Student Council events.

Dudley Combination Lock for their own locker – lockers are not to be shared. Bring a combination lock OR a lock can be purchased in the main office for $5.00.

Permission/Consent Form Package will be distributed on the first week of school. Please ensure all forms in the package are completed, signed, and returned to school on Tuesday September 11th. The forms include -

  • Medical Information Form (please complete to update your child’s medical information)
  • Walking Excursion Form
  • Student Media Release Consent Form
  • Severe Weather Conditions Permission Form
  • Acknowledgement of TDSB’s Code of Conduct and Code of Online Conduct

**PLEASE NOTE** - Student photos will be taken on Tuesday, September 4th, 2018 as part of the registration process. The photos will be used for student ID cards which will be required by students to participate in all clubs, sports and events at JPCI.

06/26/2018 - JPCI SUMMER PROGRAM

The Summer Institute for Grade 9 students attending JPCI in September 2018 will begin on Tuesday, July 3rd, 2018. All students who have registered for the program are to meet in the Auditorium for our Welcome Assembly starting at 9:00 am.

Summer school for current students at JPCI will also will begin on Tuesday, July 3rd, 2018. All students who have registered for summer school at JPCI will meet in the Auditorium for our Welcome Assembly starting at 9:00 am.

Congratulations to Ms. Nicole Anthony, one of our staff colleagues at John Polanyi C.I., who was one of two recipients nationwide of the prestigious 2018 Prime Minister’s Teaching Excellence in STEM.

05/01/2018 - ARTS Announcement

JPCI has 23 amazing artists who will be representing John Polanyi C.I. as a part of this year's Flash Forward Incubator project.

These students have been part of our grade 11 and 12 Visual Arts and Photography classes and have worked hard throughout the year to create their remarkable and creative works of art.

Their art work will be published in a book along with all the other student works for eight other secondary schools.

All student work will be framed and exhibited at the Stephen Bulger Gallery (1356 Dundas St. W) on Monday, May 28th.

On Tuesday February 27th, 2018, Mr. Lee and Mr. Toffoli accompanied JPCI's Team 6867 Pathera Tech to showcase their robot for the FIRST Robotics Competition on CP24.
