French as a Second Language

Assistant Curriculum Leader:   Ms. Ventura

FSL at West Humber

Welcome to the French department at West Humber C.I. Our French department offers French courses at all grade levels. As stated by the Ministry of Education of Ontario, all students must acquire a grade 9 French credit in order to graduate; however, they may choose to further their French education in the following years. That is to say, they may continue to take French courses in grades 10, 11, and 12. Such continuation of French after grade 9 is an excellent way for students to further enhance their French skills and become proficient in Canada’s second official language.

As a result, students who complete all French courses from grade 9 to grade 12 will receive a Core French Certificate from the TDSB recognizing them as bilingual graduates. In turn, this will provide them with better opportunities for careers in the future.
