The fundamental purpose of the Computer Studies program is to provide students with the knowledge and skills that will enable them to achieve success in secondary school, the workplace, post-secondary education or training, and daily life. The goals of the Computer Studies curriculum are to enable students to:
develop critical thinking skills and strategies required to do research, conduct inquiries, and communicate findings accurately and effectively
develop lifelong learning habits that will help them adapt to computer advances in the changing workplace and world
make connections that will help to take advantage of potential post-secondary educational and work opportunities
At West Humber C.I., our students learn to create Scratch video games, and software solutions in Python and Java. Students are taught to design independently and as part of a team, using industry-standard programming tools.
