Arsen Hudyma was born in the village of Nove Selo, Pidvolochysk district, Ternopil region, on September 29, 1964. In 1970, the family moved to Ternopil for permanent residence. In 1981, he graduated from high school with a gold medal. In 1987, he graduated with honors from Ternopil State Medical Institute with a degree in medical care. From 1987 to 1990, he studied in graduate school at the Department of Normal Physiology. In the same year, he defended his PhD thesis on "Physiological risk factors for cardiopathology in young healthy individuals". From 1990 to 1995, he worked at the Department of Normal Physiology as an assistant and then as a senior lecturer. From 1995 to 1998 he worked as a senior researcher at the Central Research Laboratory. In 1996, he was awarded the academic title of Senior Research Scientist in the specialty of Normal Physiology. From 1998 to 2001 he headed the Department of Medical Informatics with a course in physics and special equipment. Since 2001, he has been the Head of the Department of Extreme and Military Medicine, which was later renamed the Department of Disaster Medicine and Military Medicine. Since 2022 - Head of the Department of Emergency and Simulation Medicine.

In 2002, he defended his doctoral dissertation on "Pathogenetic substantiation of ways to increase the body's adaptive capacity to toxic liver damage in the experiment". In the same year, he was awarded the academic title of Associate Professor of the Department of Extreme and Military Medicine, and in 2004 - Professor of the Department of Disaster Medicine and Military Medicine.

Research interests: pathogenesis of polytrauma and prevention of multiple organ failure, organization and provision of emergency medical care in mass incidents. From 2007 to 2018, he was a scientific supervisor of research topics funded by the state budget. Under the supervision of A.A. Gudyma, 28 candidate and 3 doctoral dissertations were defended. He has published more than 300 scientific papers, monographs, textbooks and manuals, and more than 10 patents for inventions.

He has been awarded the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine medal "For Assistance to the Armed Forces of Ukraine" (2007), the Badge of Honor (2022) and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine medal "For Assistance to the Internal Affairs of Ukraine" (2011). In 2018, he was awarded the State Prize of Ukraine in Education.
