Jaylynn Stewart
Jaylynn Stewart graduated from Taylorville High School in 2009 and was a four year letter winner on the Tornadoes basketball team, a four year letter winner on the tennis team and a four year letter winner on the softball team.
During her four years on the basketball team, the Tornadoes compiled a record of 89 wins against only and 33 losses and won one regional championship, Jaylynn scored a career 1120 points, placing her eighth on the school’s all-time scoring list. Sharing MVP honors her senior season, Jaylynn was selected to the Central State Eight Conference All- Conference team in both her Junior and senior seasons and capped off her senior year with an All- State selection.
Playing on the Tornadoes’ tennis team, Jaylynn was a state qualifier in doubles as freshman and a sophomore and as a senior was undefeated during the regular season and qualified for state after finishing third in the sectionals. She was an All-CS8 Conference selection in 2008 and team MVP in 2007, 2008 and 2009.
On the softball team, Jaylynn started all four years and was selected team MVP in 2007, 2008, and 2009 and was an All-CS8 Conference selection as a sophomore, junior, and senior.
Following her senior year, Jaylynn received a scholarship to attend Division I Illinois State University and play basketball for the Redbirds. In 2011, she transferred to Eureka College where she finished her career 11th all-time in assists and was selected to the St Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference All Conference Team. Receiving her Bachelor’s Degree in Athletic Training, Jaylynn was hired as an assistant basketball coach at East Peoria High School.
In 2015, Jaylynn began a five year stay as assistant basketball coach at LaRoche University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Then in 2020, she was called back to her Alma Mater, Eureka College, where she was hired as the Head Women’s Basketball Coach for the Eureka Red Devils. During her three years at Eureka, the COVID Epidemic shortened each season, and the Red Devils compiled a record of 26 and 40, but advanced to the SLIAC conference semifinals each year.
In 2023, Jaylynn Stewart was selected to lead the Women’s Basketball program at Sewanee: University of the South, in Sewanee, Tennessee where she continues to lead the Tigers.
