Bob Rahar

Bob Rahar graduated from THS in 1974 and lettered two years in football.  As a starting defensive back on the 1972 and 1973 Tornadoes’ football team, Bob Rahar established the single game interception record with 4 against Shelbyville in 1974.   Bob is also holder of the career interception record of 14.  Already a member of the Hall of Fame 1973 Tornadoes Football Team,  Bob is also being recognized and inducted as Friend of Sports for his untiring leadership with the Taylorville Junior Football League.Bob has volunteered his time for more than twenty years to ensure that young players have the opportunity to learn the correct fundamentals of playing tackle football.  He has been instrumental in administering coach, official and player selection; equipment purchasing, care and maintenance;  and ensuring that proper fundamentals and fair play are introduced and enforced at every level.   Prior to a football season beginning, Bob can be found preparing for player sign-ups and organizing equipment distribution.  From that beginning and for the next three months, Bob can be found overseeing afterschool practices four nights a week and spending an entire Saturday ensuring that the Junior Football League games are played in an organized and successful manner.  The JFL program has prepared future Tornadoes under the watchful eye of Bob Rahar for more than twenty years.  It can be said that the success of the Taylorville Tornadoes Football teams can be directly related to the tireless effort of Bob Rahar and his leadership of the Taylorville Junior Football League.
