Terry Passoni

Terry Passoni graduated from Taylorville High School in 1966. He was a member of the 1965 and 1966 Tornadoes regional championship basketball team that advanced to the sectional finals and had records of 19-8 and 22-6.     As a junior, Passoni jumped into the starting line-up of new head coach Jack Murphy and immediately made an impact. His 383 points lead the Tornadoes in scoring and also to a regional championship, Taylorville’s first since 1959.     During the 1965-66 season, Passoni played in 25 of the 27 game season, missing three games due to a sprained ankle. During that season Passoni was never held scoring below double figures. Averaging 18.0 pointsa game on the season, he had single game highs of 26 against Pana and 31 against Mowequa in the regional finals. Probably one his strongest games came in the second game of the season whenLeading the Tornadoes in scoring both seasons, Passoni amassed a total of 833 career points. He was chosen co-captain in 1966 and was also selected to the All Mid-State Conference 1st Team as well as the Decatur Herald and Review All- Area 1st Team. After graduation, Passoni attended Illinois Wesleyan University where he started on the Freshman team and played two years on the Varsity.
