Kim (Hollensteiner) Paisley

Kim Paisley Hollensteiner, a 1983 graduate of Taylorville High School, who earned 11 Varsity letters in Basketball, Volleyball and Track will be inducted into the Taylorville High School Sports Hall of Fame at a Banquet, Saturday, April 27, 2013.    As a member of the volleyball team, Paisley Hollensteiner lettered three years and was team captain as a senior. At 5’11”, she was a dominating force on the front line and provided a strong defense to compliment her ability to as the main “spiker” on the team.    As a freshman member of the very first Lady Tornadoes basketball team in 1979, Paisley Hollensteiner was an immediate contributor, coming off the bench to the help the squad achieve an 8 – 6 record. The following year, she became a member of the starting five and over the next three years, contributed over 700 points and 500 rebounds in helping the Lady Tornadoes to 57 more wins against only 14 losses. In both her sophomore and junior seasons, the Lady Tornadoes won Taylorville’s first and second IHSA Regional Championships. Kim was selected team captain in both her junior and senior years. During her sophomore season, Kim set the team shooting percentage record by hitting 111 of 233 shots for 47.6 percent.    Kim was an all around athlete and when spring arrived, she immediately made an impact on the track team. A four year letter winner, Kim focused on the High Jump. As a sophomore, she set the school and Apollo Conference record at 5’5” and advanced to the IHSA state finals three times. Her high jump mark has been tied once, but 32 years later, Kim Paisley’s name is still on top, as the school record holder. Her high jumping success also earned her four invitations to participate the Illinois State Journal Register’s annual Capitol All Area Track meet.     During her senior year, Kim was recruited by a variety of colleges to play volleyball or basketball. She accepted a scholarship to play both volleyball and basketball at Quincy University where she was not only a three year starter on each team, but was also selected a captain of both teams her junior and senior seasons. Highlights of her college career included Quincy’s volleyball team finishing seventh in the nation for NAIA schools and Kim scoring a career total of 433 point and grabbing 249 rebounds for the Lady Hawks basketball team.
