Aaron Lane

Aaron Lane, a 1989 graduate of Taylorville High School played baseball, basketball and football at Taylorville High School and continued his baseball career as a pitcher, first at Lincoln Land Community College and then at the University of New Orleans. He then entered the professional ranks as a pitcher. 

In high school, Lane lettered three years in baseball and was selected to the Apollo All-Conference 1st team in 1989 after compiling and 8-4 record on the 17-7 Tornadoes.    Lane also was a two year starting quarterback, throwing fora career 756 yards in a run oriented offense. On the hardwood, Lane was a two year varsity letter winner, scoring a career total 424 points for the Purple and Gold.    After graduating from high school, Aaron Lane was recruited to play baseball at Lincoln Land Community College. Following his two years a Lincoln Land, Lane received a scholarship to pitch for the University of New Orleans Privateers.    In 1992, Aaron Lane signed a professional contract with the Baltimore Orioles organization and was assigned to Bluefield in the Appalachian Rookie League. Following a 5 and 1 season in 14 starts, Lane moved to Class A baseball with Albany. By 1995 and 1996 Lane advanced to Double A, Bowie and spent two stints with Triple A Rochester. At Bowie he appeared in 53 games during those two years winning 8, losing 8 and saving 2. While at Rochester he was 1-0 in 18 appearances. In 1999 Lane pitched in the Tampa Bay organization and ended his career with the Texas Ranger franchise.    During his nine year career, Aaron Lane won 30 games had an Earned Run Average of 4.59 in 228 appearances. He saved 19 games and started 61 times.After retiring from professional baseball, Aaron returned to Taylorville where he and his wife Nicole, and their daughters Mia Noelle and Bree now live.
