Amy Hughes graduated from Taylorville High School in 1997. She was a four year letter winner playing on the Tornadoes Softball Team. During her high school career, Amy Hughes had a career .278 batting average and a.489 on base average.
After graduating, Hughes attend Illinois College where she was a four year letter winner for the Lady Blues. As a senior, Hughes was selected to the Midwest Conference South Division All-Conference Team. Supporting that selection, she had a .324 batting average, a .559 slugging percentage and a .917 fielding average. Her highlight tournament in Ft Myers, Florida included 12 hits and 13 RBI’s in leading the Lady Blues to a 6-1 tournament record.
During her career Illinois College, Amy Hughes added he name into the IC Softball Record Book with 6 single game RBI’s (Tied for first), 61 Career RBI’s (tied for 10th), 101 career hits (tied for 10th) and culminated her career with a career .356 bastting average.
