Andy Gregory

But football was not the only sport Andy Gregory excelled in at THS.  As a catcher on the Tornadoes Baseball team, Andy was selected to the CS8 All Conference Team in 2002 and 2003 as an Honorable Mention member and in 2004 was named a member of the First Team.  In 2004 he led the team in hitting with a .323 batting average.  He also led the team collecting 13 doubles, 31 hits and 46 total bases.  As a catcher, he led the team in fielding percentage in both 2003 and 2004.  Following graduation, Gregory played baseball for Springfield College in Illinois where he was selected team captain in 2005 and 2006. 

Andy Gregory graduated from THS in 2004 and was a two sport standout, lettering in football three seasons and baseball four years.  On the gridiron, Gregory played middle linebacker and  made his presence know immediately, earning CS8 All- Conference Honorable Mention his sophomore season.  During the 2002 season, Andy set a single season statistical point record, as well as tying a single game sack record of five sacks.  He led the Tornadoes defense in tackles ten of the eleven games they played, set a school single season tackle record of 42 and was named Defensive MVP. As a senior, Gregory was selected to the CS8 All-Conference First Team, the Illinois High School Football Coaches Association All- State Team, won the team Defensive Player MVP for the second year, earned the Jim Lovin “Desire Award”, and was selected team captain. For his career at THS he set the school defensive statistical point record and established a career tackle record being credited with 389 tackles. Gregory has been honored by the Tornado coaching staff, as they have named the team’s Defensive Player of the Year award, The Andy Gregory Defensive Player of the Year Award.
