.Kirsten Daykin graduated from Taylorville High School in 2008. She not only lettered in track and field all four years, but established herself as one of the all-time best track and field athletes of Taylorville High school.
As a freshman, Kirsten established new school records in both the indoor long jump and triple jump as well as establishing a new outdoor record in the triple jump. It was no surprise that she was named team MVP in the field events.
As a sophomore, Daykin again broke the outdoor triple jump record and was named to the All-Central State 8 Track Team as well as being awarded All-Central State 8 academic award.
As a junior, Kristen extended her accomplishments by continuing her assault on the triple jump setting the record at 34’2” , She won the Central State 8 Long Jump as well as placing first in the IHSA Long Jump, qualifying for the state meet. She joined the 4 X 400 relay team and they set the school record of 4:10.9. She again was selected as the team MVP in field events, she also was awarded the Team Gold Metal for most points scored during the season.
As a senior, Kirsten set the Triple jump record for the 4th consecutive year, leaping 35’2”. She won the Central State 8 triple jump and qualified for the IHSA State meet in the long jump, triple jump and as a member of the 4 X 400 relay team. Again, she was selected All-Central State 8 and Central State 8 Academic and finished by receiving the Team Gold medal for most point scored during the season.
Kirsten received a scholarship to attend Millikin University where she would continue participate on the track team. While a student at Millikin, Kirsten set the following Millikin School records:
